Omaxe Names Pink Stand After Harmanpreet Kaur

Omaxe has announced that a key stand at its upcoming cricket stadium in The Omaxe State, Dwarka, will be named after Harmanpreet Kaur, captain of the Indian women’s cricket team.

The Harmanpreet Kaur Stand, also referred to as the Pink Stand, will have over 1,500 seats and will be located in the North (Pavilion) Lower Bowl of the 30,000-seater stadium. The development forms part of The Omaxe State, a 50-acre integrated sports and lifestyle destination with an investment of approximately Rs 25 billion, being developed in partnership with DDA.

The Pink Stand is designed as a dedicated space for women and families, aimed at improving inclusivity in stadium environments. The concept has been developed with inputs from Harmanpreet Kaur, including recommendations on athlete-centric facilities.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Harmanpreet Kaur said, “It is truly special to have a stand named after me at The Omaxe State. Cricket has given me so much over the years and this recognition makes the journey even more meaningful. I am grateful to Omaxe for this honour, and it was a pleasure to be included in the planning phase of the stadium to make it more inclusive toward women. It is wonderful to see women’s cricket being recognised in such a meaningful way, and I hope this stadium inspires many young athletes to pursue sports with passion.”

Mohit Goel, MD, Omaxe, added, “Harmanpreet's journey is about discipline, resilience, and leadership. Naming a stand after her at The Omaxe State is our way of honouring that journey and acknowledging how far women's sport has come in India. We onboarded her even before the World Cup win because we believed in what she stands for. At her suggestion, we are introducing the Pink Stand for women with a capacity of 1500+, to make stadiums more inclusive. We have also welcomed her inputs on facilities that are still hard to find in Indian stadiums, such as separate facilities for women athletes. To bring this vision to life, we have partnered with Bentel and other global consultants to ensure that the design, whether for the stadium or the hotel and commercial spaces, meets world-class standards. In fact, the stadium is designed keeping in mind India’s long-term ambition of hosting international sporting events such as the Olympics, FIFA tournaments, Paralympics and Commonwealth Games.”

The project will also include retail, hospitality and sports infrastructure, with Bentel Associates appointed for design of commercial, hotel and club components. Facilities include a 55,000 sq m stadium block, indoor sports arena, retail spaces, a 158-key hotel and a membership-based sports club, positioning it as a multi-use destination for the National Capital Region.
